Experience:

Jeff’s career is marked by nearly 30 years of leadership in shaping and maintaining some of California's most notable green spaces and academic programs:

Public Service: He served for 18 years as Park Manager for the City of Santa Barbara, California, overseeing the maintenance and stewardship of municipal parks.
Non-Profit Leadership: He held the role of Vice President of Horticulture at the renowned Santa Barbara Botanical Garden for two years.
Academia: Jeff was an Adjunct Faculty member in the Horticulture Department at Santa Barbara City College for eight years, where he developed and taught classes for the certificate program, training the next generation of industry professionals.

Education & Certifications

Jeff combines practical experience with rigorous academic qualifications:

Certifications: Oregon-licensed Landscape Contractor, Nurseryman, and International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Board Certified Master Arborist.
Education: Holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Cal State, Northridge, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Horticulture from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, California.

A Lifelong Passion

Jeff’s dedication to plants began early—at the age of 12—when a neighbor took him under her wing. He received personal instruction in the fundamentals of lawn maintenance, proper hedge trimming, rose care, and fruit tree management, fostering a foundational expertise that continues to drive his work today.

Our Consultation Services:

One-Hour Garden Consultations

This is an opportunity to have a one-on-one consultation at your site. Each 1-hour consultation will be tailored to your unique goals, garden type and budget. Our consultant will walk you thru the steps of designing, planting & caring for your garden and assessing problems in your garden. Rate $150/hour

Irrigation Consultations

This consultation will provide expert advice on designing, installing and maintaining efficient water management systems for landscapes or commercial properties. It will help determine the best irrigation strategies, considering factors such as soil conditions, water availability, climate & budget as well as making suggestions to system upgrades. We offer irrigation audits to determine the efficiency of the system, make recommendations for improvement and offer base irrigation schedules for maximum water efficiency.

Tree and Landscape Appraisals

Trees and landscapes have value. We can do appraisals of value for insurance claims or other purposes. We use the latest information from The International Society of Arboriculture to make the determinations and over 50 years experience managing landscapes and placing value assessments and doing appraisals. Tree hazard assessment is also important. We can make recommendations about the vitality of a tree and what the proper management of that tree is according to best management practices. We can provide expert witness services in tree disputes or in the unfortunate situation of a lawsuit. We are here to help.
